Who ever invented such a snack here in Korea as the Pepero?!!!< I was warned yesterday that today was going to be "Pepero" day, but as I walked into school I was still caught a little off guard by all the kids walking up to me and randomly handing me these long sticks covered on chocolate. Yeah...it sounds good, but really, they don't taste like anything more than a graham crack stickish type thing covered in badly made wanna be chocotale. Course, the kids were in sweets heaven running around school handing them out and eating little packages they had bought at all the local stores. I've still got some that I couldn't bring myself to eat sitting in my room. I think I'll bring them home and pawn them off on a friend that is waiting for me. He'll eat them, for sure. I guess the Pepero people got some sort of really cool deal when they got to name today their day.....I just wonder....would such an advertising ploy work back home? I'm guessing not, but one just never knows. We have our own little odd holidays that seem very silly as well...such as Groundhogs day. Who ever heard of watching a shadow of a rodent to see if spring will come early?!!!
